A Complete Guide for a Successful Application is a hands-on workshop led by Aldeide Delgado (WOPHA Founder & Director), which draws directly from her experience as a juror for prestigious international photography competitions. Over the course of four weeks, Delgado will provide firsthand insights into the jurying process, equipping participants with the tools, strategies, and knowledge needed to craft successful applications for residencies, grants, fellowships, and exhibitions.
Through exclusive behind-the-scenes perspectives, participants will gain a deeper understanding of application expectations, evaluation criteria, and best practices. The workshop includes direct feedback on application materials, allowing attendees to refine their submissions with expert guidance.
This interactive workshop consists of weekly 2-hour live sessions featuring hands-on exercises, peer reviews, and personalized critiques of actual application samples—ensuring participants leave with stronger, more competitive applications. Additionally, participants will receive a curated calendar listing photography applications, helping them stay on track with deadlines and opportunities.

Instructor
Aldeide Delgado is a Cuban-born, Miami-based independent Latinx art historian, curator, and the founder & director of Women Photographers International Archive (WOPHA). With over eight years of experience in curating, writing, and presenting at leading art history forums focused on photography, Delgado has lectured at prestigious institutions such as Tate Modern, The Clark Institute, University of Pennsylvania, Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), DePaul Art Museum, King’s College London, California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), and The New School.
As an award-winning scholar and curator, she has been recognized with the 2023 Ellies Creator Award, 2019 Knight Arts Challenge Award, 2018 School of Art Criticism Fellowship by SAPS – La Tallera, and the 2017 Research and Production of Critic Essay Fellowship by TEOR/éTica. Delgado is also the mastermind behind the WOPHA Congress, a triennial creative convening and exhibition series (2021 and 2024) that unites global voices shaping contemporary photography. Her curatorial and publishing work explores feminist and decolonial perspectives, focusing on Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx photography. She is the author of Becoming Sisters: Women Photography Collectives & Organizations (2021).
